VIRTUAL READING EVENT: UAB x PPQ HEAL

Join celebrated poet Linda Parsons and featured poets for a virtual reading of selections from The Pigeon Parade Quarterly's latest issue: HEAL. Pigeon Parade + Central Collective Art and Poetry Party: TICKLE

July 22, 6-8:30pm, open to the public

6-7pm: Make your happy hour even happier with The Pigeon Parade and The Central Collective. Mix. Mingle. BYOB.

7-8pm: We got your summer reads right here. Kick back and soak in work from a selection of poets published over the course of the Pigeon's first year. Readings will take place outdoors with emcee Madalyn Dillard. (Indoor ventilated rain plan.)

6-8:30pm: TICKLE is a Pigeon Parade + Central Collective community art exhibition featuring work from Knoxville’s diverse and expansive creative community. TICKLE welcomes ALL Knoxville artists and makers to share their work in this inclusive, non-juried exhibition. Attendees are invited to contribute to the HERDCORE “Processing the Pandemic” station, where participants can answer written questions or submit voice recordings to be included in an upcoming photo and installation exhibition at The Emporium on August 6.


FOR ARTISTS: 

We welcome any and all artwork that fits the theme. You are encouraged to use the theme to create new work, but older works are also welcome. This is not a juried or curated show—all art delivered to The Central Collective on July 18 will be accepted and displayed in this inclusive community exhibition.


Art Drop Off Date: 

Sunday, July 18, 10am-12:30pm


Art Pick Up Dates: 

Thursday, July 22, 8:30-8:45pm

Friday, July 23, 11am-6pm


Drop off location: The Central Collective (923 N Central St, 37917)

  • Please limit contribution to one piece per person or group of collaborators

  • You are welcome to offer your piece for sale. When you drop off your art, we’ll ask you to fill out a card with your name and information about your piece including optional pricing and your contact information for interested buyers. The Central Collective will not facilitate any sales or take any commission for work sold.

  • 2D pieces should be no larger than 48” in either direction and mounted for hanging, framed so that they can sit on a flat surface, or delivered with an easel for display.

  • 3D pieces of any size are welcome. Large (over 48” in any dimension) or heavy (over 50 lbs) pieces will need to be delivered on July 22 - please contact info@thecentralcollective.com by July 18 if you have a large or heavy piece to schedule a drop off time on July 22. 

  • Video or digital art submissions can be submitted to info@thecentralcollective.com on or before July 18.  Pieces should be no longer than 10 minutes in length and can be submitted via dropbox or link with downloadable file. Please include the name of your piece.
